Humans connecting for art is powerful. The last frames of this short video contain an image painted in 2022, when Tony Lowe, Peter Coyle and I rehearsed for ESP Project gigs featuring the album ‘Anarchic Curves’. It sat in my studio until now; I felt it needed to be part of a larger message. Knowing that thousands of beautiful people, living creatures, and places are destroyed beyond recognition is painful. Life is a great gift. To be in the artistic flow - to be viscerally engrossed in colour, form and music is a welcome, temporary, panacea. But then there is reality.
YouTube videos appear to be good for certain types of information, if we account for propaganda uses. Many people appear to be attempting to manoeuvre through this time by calling for more cooperative, less fear driven, solutions. Here is a thoughtful video by Neil Oliver from his home in Scotland, discussing current affairs and ways to work through them. For those of you who feel some safeguards and preparations may be necessary for the future - here are two good food lists of items to have on hand. I am sure there are many more lists of this type and also lists of other non-food items.
Many of us grew up in a time when food storage and prep was a necessary part of life. At one time I lived on an organic farming commune in the Central Valley of California. My grandparents grew fruit & vegetables and canned or dried most of them. Both lived through the Great Depression, so they understood shortages. Worldwide, because of current events, we may be going through something similar. Stay safe all - and support positive collaboration and knowledge.
